Balancing Deen & Dunya

Balancing Deen & Dunya

Assalamulaikum

Welcome back to the Iftar Table.

*There were some technical difficulties with sending this email out the first time and I’m not sure who received it and who didn’t. So if you did receive it the first time, apologies for the duplicate. And if not, read on to receive much benefit, Insha’Allah.*

Today I want to highlight the importance of finding a balance between carrying out religious duties and also taking your share of this dunya.

This is something that I am constantly struggling with (being too religious or too worldly) so I want to share these points with you and pray that you benefit in this life and the next.

Bismillah.

🚨UPDATES🚨

Alhamdulilah!

I finally released my new ebook — Guide to Islamic Productivity — Steps to Success in this Life and the Next:

$7.00

Guide to Islamic Productivity — Steps to Success in this Life and the Next

A Muslim’s guide to achieving success — in this life and the next — according to Islamic principles; not man-made... Read more

This book is in line with the theme of the Iftar Table newsletter; not using hustle culture to improve your life, but rather, using Islām.

The book covers certain duas and acts of worship as well as sunnah activities and other deeds that a Muslim, like yourself, can use to see improvements in his or her wealth, health, business, fitness, relationships, deen etc.

This book is extremely beneficial because it does not waste your time by suggesting all the pseudo-productivity tips that you see online; things like cold showers, long meditation sessions, manifestation…no. Everything is straight from Islām.

Share this link with any of your Muslim friends who you think may be able to benefit from a Guide to Islamic Productivity.

Sharing this will be a weighty deed on your scale on the Day of Judgement.

Insha’Allah.

💎ISLAMIC GEM💎

Just because we as Muslims are meant to make the afterlife (Paradise) our main priority doesn’t mean that we are to become like monks, totally detached from wanting anything of the world

‎Allāh ﷻ even structured His religion in a way where its pillars make it easy to both worship Him and to take our share of the world

‎Consider the pillars:

‎• 🧎🏽‍♂️Salah: Allāh commands us in the Qur’an to leave off business transactions for the (Friday) prayer. Then once the prayer is done, to continue seeking His bounty

‎• 🪙 Zakat: Allāh only demands that we give 2.5% of our wealth annually — and only if we reach the nisab — as zakat. Furthermore, if we were all meant to be like monks (not earning anything from the world) why would zakat be enjoined upon us?

‎• 🌙Sawm: There was a point in time when men were not allowed to sleep with their wives at all during the month of Ramadan. But they still used to engage in this act (as they were tempted by their nafs). So Allāh allowed them to enjoy their wives during this blessed month (of Ramadan) outside of fasting hours; “It has been made permissible for you to be intimate with your wives during the nights preceding the fast. Your spouses are a garment for you as you are for them. Allāh knows that you were deceiving yourselves. So He has accepted your repentance and pardoned you. So now you may be intimate with them and seek what Allāh has prescribed for you.” (Qur’an 2:187)

‎• 🕋 Hajj: Allāh could’ve made the pilgrimage a strictly religious experience (ie. He could’ve banned all other acts during it). But out of His Mercy, He has allowed the pilgrims to engage in mutual trade and business during Hajj; “There is no blame on you for seeking the bounty of your Lord ˹during this journey˺.” (Qur’an 2:198)

‎Find a balance between enjoying the things of this world and remembering that your priority is the Eternal Abode (Paradise).

🚦BEFORE YOU GO🚦

Don’t forget to keep your brothers and sisters in places like Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, India, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and all over the world in your duas during these times.

And donate here to help them in any way you can; remember, our beloved Prophet ﷺ said:

“Charity does not decrease wealth.”

Additionally, I started a petition to shut down Project Nimbus; an Israeli service that allows the occupation to keep illegal tabs on Palestinians.

Sign here to shut down this project — it’s a very simple act that will, Insha’Allah, help the Palestinians greatly.
